Pop Art - Research Task
Pop-art was around from the late 1950s through to 1960s
although still takes place even today, people make a selection of modern takes
on pop art. Pop art was used in commercial products such as soup, powder containers,
comics and pop bottles. Pop art later moved to more common products in
day-to-day products. A popular soup is Campbell’s Soup brand which was designed
by Andy Warhol who duplicated designs and created iconic bright and vibrant
colours. Famous artists of the Pop Art genre is, as mentioned, Andy Warhol who
created iconic branding for Campbell’s Soup, as well as Andy there are other
famous artists. Keith Harring gained international success during the 80s creating
a piece of work called “LUCKY STRIKE”. Another key duo in the Pop Art movement
is Claes
Oldenburg & Coosje van Bruggenare who placed an ice cream on top of a
building in the United States. Pop Art constitutes a selection of bright and
vibrant colors often repeated and changed for each repeat and can be found in
collage form and in most cases seen as a cartoon incorporated with a real
image. I think Pop Art was created by painters who all had the same
vision. Pop Art was made by the
technique of benday which allows brighter colors to be added to your work. Pop
Art is similar to graffiti in the sense they use spray cans and stencils. Pop
Art could be used in advertising or branding of a product as it enables a
unique look that is colorful and eye-catching, it can also be used in advertising
as its not adverse and allows interest to be drawn to them. The product that
could be used is anything vibrant and colorful. The equipment needed is 2
redlights, props, seamless white background, camera and tripod.
